Celebrating his 36th year as director of the Sacramento Youth Symphony and Academy of Music, Michael Neumann’s high­ly acclaimed Premier Orchestra ensemble has not only toured across the globe—from Brazil and Beijing to Vienna, Tuscany, and Wales—but it has garnered top prizes and accolades along the way.


Michael Neumann’s career had a fortuitous beginning, as his first violin teacher was the great- great-granddaughter of Antonin Dvorak.


Eventually winning a full scholarship to the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, Mr. Neumann went on to earn his bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He then began his career with the Birmingham Symphony as Assistant Conductor.


His affiliation with the Sacramento Youth Symphony began in 1979 as Assistant Conduc­tor then as Associate Conductor of the former Sacramento Symphony in 1989. Along the way, Mr. Neumann has also made appearances with the Cheyenne Symphony, the Santa Rosa Symphony, Camellia Orchestra, the Fresno Philharmonic, the Napa Valley Symphony, and just completed his 10th year as Music Director of the Folsom Symphony Orchestra.

Dr. Jesus Larralde-Muro, Associate Dean of the Lyles College of Engineering at Fresno State University.

Dr. Jesus Larralde-Muro obtained MS and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Purdue University and has been part of the Lyles College of Engineering since 1994.

Having served there as associate professor, professor, program coordinator chair in the Civil and Geomatics Engineering department, Dr. Larralde-Muro is currently Associate Dean of the College. His area of expertise is in highway infrastructure assessment and design.

Dr. Larralde-Muro is the author or co-author of several dozen technical publications in referenced journals, conference proceedings and special technical publications and is a member of the American Society of Civil
